Latch, a Welsh children's cancer charity, has been selected for support by the Dyfed Mark Masons, a Freemasonry order spanning Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, and Carmarthenshire. The announcement holds special significance for member Martin Thomas, whose daughter Bethany received crucial support from Latch during her successful battle with cancer as an infant.
Latch aids families of children treated at the Children's Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, covering a wide area from Chepstow to Aberystwyth. The charity assists approximately 70 new cases annually, providing both emotional and practical support. Their services include funding medical equipment, offering free accommodation, and organizing morale-boosting activities for affected children and families.
At a recent meeting, Latch ambassador Helen Gravelle shared her personal experience with childhood cancer, highlighting the charity's vital role. Gary Hicks, the Provincial Grand Master, presented a donation to Latch, emphasizing the organization's importance in supporting families facing childhood illness across Wales.
