Last Thursday (30th May), Isle of Wight Freemasons presented cheques totaling over £40,000 to local charities during a special event at Cowes Masonic Hall.

Representatives from more than 20 Island charities, along with notable local figures such as His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant Susie Sheldon and High Sheriff Graham Biss, were in attendance. The gathering was hosted by Worshipful Brother Clive Dobson, Chairman for the Solent Area.

The event celebrated the remarkable efforts of numerous charities and unsung heroes who provide a diverse range of support to Isle of Wight residents. It also offered a platform for charity representatives to share the impactful work they do within the community. Attendees found the experience both moving and thought-provoking.

The Isle of Wight is home to approximately 900 Freemasons who meet across 18 Lodges at 8 centers around the Island. Kindness and charitable giving are core principles of Freemasonry. In line with these values, Isle of Wight Freemasons donated over £40,000 to local charities in 2023.

The evening was widely praised as a resounding success by all who attended.
