Roger Mallinson MBE celebrated his 50th year as a member of the Freemasons at the Ambleside Lodge, where he was visited by Keith Beaumont, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master of the Cumbria Freemasons.
Roger had joined the Windermere Masonic Lodge on February 8, 1973, at the age of 35, and is known for his engineering projects, including his work with steam engines and boats.
In 1973, Roger was involved in a deep-sea submarine accident off the coast of Ireland and was trapped for over three days before being rescued in what was considered the deepest submarine rescue in history. The incident made headlines at the time but has since been largely forgotten.
Roger’s contributions to his local community have been widely recognized, and he is a respected member of the Freemasons who exemplifies the organization’s values of respect, integrity, friendship, and charity.
