PTA, Masonic Lodge honor Bogue Chitto Elementary’s ‘Top Cats’

The Bogue Chitto Attendance Center Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and local business sponsors have joined forces with the Bogue Chitto Masonic Lodge to honor exceptional students from the elementary grades. The “Top Cats” initiative aims to inspire these students to become leaders both in the classroom and the wider community.

To select the “Top Cats,” teachers from various grade bands and other elementary teachers cast votes based on specific traits like respect, responsibility, courage, gratitude, kindness, perseverance, fairness, self-discipline, citizenship, and trustworthiness. Those who are considered the “cream of the crop” are then chosen by the faculty.

The top 14 students, comprising seven boys and seven girls from kindergarten to sixth grade, were recognized for their achievements. Two overall Top Cats were also selected: Price Alexander, a second-grader, and Harmony Hunley, a fifth-grader. The Masonic Lodge donated two new bicycles to these students as a special reward.

Local businesses and several parents contributed to swag baskets filled with gift cards and other goodies for each of the honored students. The program has been described as a highly positive initiative, and the students have been praised as true leaders both on and off campus. Bogue Chitto teachers and PTA representatives have shown their support for the program.
