Newtown Girl Guides New Picnic Bench from Powys Freemasons

The Girl Guides in Newtown are now able to enjoy outdoor snacks, thanks to a generous donation from local Freemasons. Members of the Cedewain Lodge of Freemasons 1594, Colin and Christine Evans, arranged for an eight-seater picnic bench to be given to the Girlguiding units that gather at Treowen Community Hall.

Cheryl Jarman, the leader of the group, expressed her gratitude towards the Freemasons for funding the bench and to Colin for assembling it. She mentioned that the girls are fond of the bench and enjoy having their snacks outdoors while seated on it. This kind of support enables them to offer a variety of activities at the hall, which will also benefit other service users.

The Newtown Girl Guides are delighted to spend time outdoors with their new picnic bench, a gift from the Cedewain Lodge of Freemasons 1594. Cheryl Jarman emphasized the importance of organizations like the Freemasons, whose assistance and goodwill significantly benefit the girls in their community.

She also encouraged anyone interested in volunteering to visit the Girlguiding website and express their interest, or for parents to sign up their daughters to join the different sections. Girlguiding Cymru, the leading charity for girls and young women in Wales, boasts nearly 11,000 young members.
