The Gun Barrel City Masonic Youth Rainbow Girls hosted the Dallas Area Rainbow University on March 18 at the Cedar Creek Lake Masonic Lodge.
The event provided a full day of instruction in ritualistic floor work and opportunities for fellowship with other Rainbow Girls across the state. Following a morning of study, the girls enjoyed a brisket sandwich lunch with space-themed decorations, and spent the afternoon playing outdoor games and learning a new song.
The day concluded with attendance and achievement reports, and the singing of “My Rainbow,” the state song. The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is a service-oriented organization for girls aged 11 to 20, and offers leadership training, service projects, competitions, and retreats.
The Pledges, a younger group, hosts activities for girls aged 7 to 10. The Gun Barrel City Rainbow Girls and Pledges are sponsored by the Cedar Creek Lake Masonic Lodge and the Gun Barrel City Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
