On August 26, the Keller Masonic Lodge No. 1084 held a significant cornerstone ceremony at the Keller Center for Advanced Learning (KCAL), located at 201 Bursey Road. The event was a collaborative effort involving the Grand Lodge of Texas, Keller ISD administrators, board members, and the local community. This marked the first cornerstone ceremony organized by the lodge in over a century.
The Significance of the Cornerstone
The cornerstone ceremony is a time-honored Masonic tradition that traces its roots back to the early days of freemasonry. The cornerstone is meticulously crafted using age-old tools to ensure its squareness, straightness, and levelness. It serves as a symbol of the robust foundation not only of the building but also of the community and the countless students who will pass through the institution.
Words from the Principal
KCAL Principal Lindsey Rudnick expressed her gratitude and honor at being part of such a momentous occasion. “The recognition from this esteemed organization amplifies the support we have received from our community and business partners over the years. We are incredibly honored to be the sole campus in Keller ISD to receive this unique accolade,” she said.
What’s Next for KCAL
The cornerstone will soon be installed at the northeast corner of the KCAL building, marking the completion of the campus’s renovation and expansion phase. According to Chief Communications Officer Bryce Nieman, the expansion mainly aims to meet the increasing demand for industrial trades courses in the district. The project, which also includes additional parking spaces, received voter approval as part of Keller ISD’s 2019 bond package.
