Guide Dog Gets A Name From The Freemasons

The philanthropic arm of the Masons has named a guide dog after their organization, following their donation of £2,500 to a charity based in Shrewsbury. The newly named pup, Mason, was christened by the Shropshire Masonic Charitable Association (SMCA), marking their generous contribution to the Shrewsbury Guide Dogs Puppy Raisers.

The selection of the name was a communal effort, with Shropshire Masonic lodges holding a vote as part of the Name a Puppy campaign run by the guide dog charity. The naming ceremony took place at the charity’s routine coffee gathering at the Love to Stay Café in Shrewsbury earlier this month.

The handover of the donation was undertaken by Worshipful Brothers Allen Cadman and Peter Robinson, both members of the Shropshire Freemasons. The check was received by Lindsey Rowlands, who is a guide dog user and part of the Shrewsbury Fundraising Group for Guide Dogs.
